Anna-Theresé (Eivindsdotter) Svartvadet is a Swedish artist who creates art in resin. Her art is transformed into unique crafts through precision and patience, where each motif is produced only once.
Resin is widely used for flooring and sealing boats. When combined with hardeners, it creates a strong durable substance suitable for various industrial applications. While relatively new in the art world, where figurative motifs are still rare, resin is gaining popularity.
Through various experiments, Eivindsdotter has developed her unique technique for creating epoxy motifs. These motifs are crafted using various dropper bottles and spatulas since brushes aren’t suitable for the material. Each layer of epoxy requires approximately 20 hours to cure, resulting in a distinctive expression that’s heavily influenced by temperature and consistency. If you’re seeking fresh and exciting art, this is it.
Academics
Eivindsdotter holds a two-year Master’s Degree and a three-year Bachelor’s Degree in Art History from Uppsala University.
Her academic research has focused on contemporary art, public art and political artistic practices, with particular interest in the relationship between art, society, identity and place.
Her Master’s research examined the Swedish textile art movement “Gul & Blå – Hela Sverige Flätar”, a nationwide participatory art project created in solidarity with Ukraine and refugee women during time of war. The research explores the project through reception theory and theories of performativity, investigating how participation, place and collective action contribute to the meaning and experience of an artwork.
Her academic background informs her artistic practice, creating a dialogue between artistic expression, cultural research and contemporary social issues.
